Nucleadyn vs. fillers and Profhilo, what is the difference?
Nucleadyn is a relatively new treatment in Norway, and we receive many questions about what it is and how it differs from existing treatments such as Profhilo and filler treatments.
Nucledyn is a so-called biostimulator consisting of polynucleotides. The product is a viscoelastic absorbable gel that is injected into the skin using various techniques. Nucleadyn rejuvenates the skin and comes in three different products with different effects and for different needs. It is designed to help cells retain water, improve skin elasticity, and help prevent wrinkles.
Treatment with Nucleadyn is an innovative and effective way to restore skin firmness and elasticity, ensuring healthy skin that is protected against free radicals and cell damage. Nucleadyn attracts stem cells to the treatment area, providing a lift and rejuvenating (anti-aging) effect by stimulating fibroblast cells to produce more type 1 collagen.
For example, the eye product is a great alternative to tear trough treatment with fillers, helping to reduce dark circles under the eyes, improve wrinkles around the eyes, hydrate the skin, and improve circulation.
Who is this product suitable for?
Nucleadyn is excellent for those in their 40s and 50s, as it regenerates sagging and dehydrated skin and thickens the tissue.
If you are concerned about dryness, sagging skin, fine lines, wrinkles under the eyes, and dark circles, Nucleadyn is well worth considering. It is a particularly valuable option for patients who may have experienced mild swelling with fillers.
How long does the treatment last?
Nucleadyn is injected into the skin with a needle or cannula in two sessions, two to three weeks apart. A maintenance dose is recommended between 6-12 months.
Nucleadyn provides more subtle improvements to the skin. The goal of any injectable treatment is to look like a better version of yourself, without looking like you've had treatment. Classic fillers restore lost volume, and it is important to inject in the right places where you anatomically lose volume in order to rebuild lost volume. At the same time, overuse can give an over-treated appearance and make it obvious that something has been done. Nucleadyn, on the other hand, focuses on improvement without making significant changes to the face. It is not a filler, it is not a skin booster—it is a biostimulator for skin rejuvenation and protection.

How does this treatment compare to fillers and Profhilo?
Instead of adding hyaluronic acid to the skin, as Profhilo and fillers do, Nucleadyn contains polynucleotide-based biostimulating gels to help increase the body's own production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and other essential proteins. It does not add as much volume as fillers, but it is a treatment that gives a very natural look and adds structure to the skin while deeply hydrating it.
What is the difference between nucleadyn and fillers?
Nucledyn acts on skin quality and is used for patients who are concerned about fine lines and wrinkles and loss of elasticity in the face or neck.
Fillers, on the other hand, are more suitable for those with volume loss, or those who want to restore definition or increase volume in certain areas. For example, volume loss in the temples or cheeks, and are used to contour the cheekbones or jawline. Nucleadyn improves the skin itself, while stimulating collagen production, smoothing out lines and wrinkles, and providing a hydrating effect.
Nyceladyn cannot be compared to conventional fillers and cannot restore volume loss in the same way as a filler.
Nucleadyn vs. Profhilo, what is the difference?
The main ingredient in Profhilo is pure concentrated hyaluronic acid, while Nucleadyn is a biostimulating gel made from polynucleotides.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring compound found in the skin, muscles, and joints. The ability of HA to bind to water molecules and HA to draw up to 1000 times its weight in water makes Profhilo ideal for providing excellent hydration to the skin. The high concentration of pure HA in Profhilo also stimulates bio-remodeling by inducing the body's natural healing response to increase collagen and elastin by stimulating fibroblast cells, improving skin texture, elasticity, and firmness.
While Nucleadyn is also capable of binding to water to provide deep hydration to the skin, Nucleadyn does not draw in as much water as Profhilo. Thus, Nucleadyn may be more suitable for areas of the face with thinner skin where excessive water retention is undesirable, such as under the eyes.
Unlike Profhilo, Nucleadyn is a biostimulator capable of activating fibroblast cells to type 1 collagen and elastin-producing myofibroblasts by directly stimulating specific receptors on the fibroblast cells. Bioregeneration and rejuvenation of the skin are achieved due to the sustained and increased production of collagen by myofibroblasts. The results of Nucleadyn also tend to last longer than those of Profhilo.
In summary, due to its intense moisturizing effect, Profhilo tends to provide a better glow. These two treatments are compatible with each other and can be combined for better results.
