Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) in Oslo – Shape, volume, and natural results using your own fat
BBL - Brazilian Butt Lift
Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) gives you a fuller and more shapely butt by moving fat from other areas of your body, such as your stomach, hips, or thighs. The procedure combines liposuction and fat injection to achieve natural and harmonious results.
Practical information
In a Brazilian Butt Lift, the patient's own fat is used to shape and enhance the contours of the buttocks. The treatment creates balance between the body's proportions – without implants, and with natural-looking results.
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)?
In a buttock augmentation using your own fat, fat is liposuctioned from the areas you want to remove fat from, processed, and injected into the buttocks to create a more shapely and larger buttocks with more projection. Excess fat is removed from the hips, stomach, lower back, or thighs using liposuction, and the fat is then strategically injected to fill out the right areas.
Despite its name, a Brazilian butt lift is not a traditional "lift" procedure—it does not address loose skin on the buttocks. If you are bothered by excess, sagging skin on your buttocks or thighs, for example after significant weight loss, thigh and buttock lift surgery may be a more suitable option.
Am I a good candidate for BBL?
A Brazilian butt lift can be a great option for improving the shape and size of the buttocks if you have excess fat in other areas that you want to get rid of and a small or flat butt that needs more shape. You should have good skin tone, sufficient fat deposits in other areas to harvest for injection into the buttocks, and be willing and able to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for several weeks.
If you want to perform this operation, there must be excess fat in the body that can be transplanted, so if you are too slim, it will be difficult to extract sufficient fat. Approximately 60-70% of the fat injected into the buttocks will remain, while 30-40% will disappear.
BBL BMI and weight
You should have a BMI of 25 or above. If you have little fat, it is difficult to extract enough fat to perform an adequate fat transplant.
Will there be scars from BBL?
The BBL procedure leaves very little scarring. There will be some 3-4 mm puncture marks where the fat is extracted. In buttock augmentation, which is often combined with a BBL, excess skin is removed from the upper part of the buttocks and tightened. This is common after significant weight loss. This results in a butterfly scar, a curved scar across each buttock, which is different from BBL. See separate information about buttock lift.
What is included in the price?
The price you pay for an operation includes all follow-up checks you would need after an operation. We are available to all our patients and want them to have the safest experience throughout the entire process.
As with any major surgery, all medications and supplements that increase the risk of bleeding should be stopped 2 weeks before the operation. See our list of medications and supplements to avoid. As always, be sure to check with your doctor before stopping any medications.
If you smoke or use snuff, you must stop doing so 6-8 weeks before the operation, depending on the type of operation you are undergoing.
The week you are scheduled to have surgery, it is important that you are healthy. If you have symptoms of illness, you must contact the clinic so that we can schedule a new date. Surgery should not be performed when you have symptoms of illness.
Before the operation, you will be given a prescription for medication, with information about which tablets to take.
On the day of the operation, you must fast for 6 hours before the operation. It is also important that you do not chew gum or lozenges, use snuff or smoke. You should not use perfume, deodorant or makeup—and piercings and nail polish must be removed.
It is always a priority for us that you feel well cared for with the very best expertise, in safe and comfortable surroundings. You will be welcomed by a nurse who will go through a checklist with you. You will also meet our anesthesia staff who will look after you during the operation. You will then see the surgeon for a preoperative consultation. During the operation, you will be given anesthesia and a large amount of local anesthetic to limit the pain.
The operation itself takes approximately 3 hours.
After the operation, you will be monitored by our nurses, and you will remain in bed for at least one hour after the operation is complete. You will be given food, drink, and pain relief as needed.
During the first 24 hours after surgery, you should be accompanied by another person and stay overnight near the clinic. If you have any questions, our on-call telephone service is available around the clock. On the evening of the surgery, our plastic surgeon will also call patients to check how they are doing and provide any information they may need.
During this time, you will also be able to take painkillers that are prescribed and dispensed before the operation.
Having surgery on your buttocks requires some special adjustments during recovery. Although the pain is usually minimal and easily controlled with painkillers, you will not be allowed to sit or lie directly on your buttocks for about two weeks after a Brazilian butt lift.
During this time, you must sleep on your stomach or side, and either lie in this position or stand for all activities except using the toilet. Many people use a BBL pillow, which they place under their thighs when sitting to avoid pressure on the buttocks. Normal sitting is usually allowed after about 8 weeks.
You should be able to resume light daily activities within 1 week after the operation and return to work within 10 to 14 days. You can start exercising after a week if you come in for a check-up at the clinic.
