How is treatment carried out?
Step 1
We first use Er: Yag to strengthen the mucous membranes inside the cheeks. This tightens the lines from the inside.
Step 2
In the next step, we use the same handpiece with a lower energy setting. You will now have a cooler that will reduce discomfort. This step will stimulate collagen and tighten the connective tissue in the skin. It can be used directly on lines on the nasolabial folds, forehead, neck, and around the eyes. This step is safe for the eyes, so you do not need to wear glasses.
Steps 3 + 4
This part is called tissue tightening, and we use something called Nd:Yag. This goes deeper into the tissue and stimulates the skin to produce collagen. Collagen is a protein in the skin that breaks down with age and various lifestyle factors.
Step 5
In the final step, we perform a laser peel, also known as resurfacing. We tailor this to your skin type and the skin issue we are treating. For example, if you have fine lines around your mouth, we will go a little deeper, causing minor bleeding in the skin. If the focus is on pores, we will not go as deep. After this step, your skin will be red and a little tight—just like when you've been in the sun a little too long. We often apply a vitamin C serum that may sting for 2-3 minutes and a repairing cream. We always apply sunscreen after laser treatment. In this step, you will have the cooler, which will reduce any discomfort and pain. The skin will feel smoother, and its structure will improve. This step has an immediate effect.
You can expect your skin to be dry/tight for a few days after treatment, and flaking is very common. Fotona laser treatment is most effective for people under the age of 65, and if you have a lot of excess skin, surgery may be necessary. It is important to use a high SPF sunscreen after and before treatment, and to avoid sunbathing as your skin will be extra sensitive.

Some people may also experience swelling or pain in the area where laser treatment has been performed, but this is completely harmless. If this happens, contact the clinic so that you can be given painkillers or tablets to reduce the swelling.
Is there anything I need to consider before and after treatment?
Before treatment, you should not sunbathe for two weeks prior to treatment and one month afterwards. If it is sunny outside, you should protect your skin with SPF 30 or 50 sunscreen. In addition, you should avoid creams and exfoliants that can irritate the skin during the last week before you have broken blood vessels removed.
