Sculptra
Sculptra
Sculptra is a biostimulating injection treatment containing the substance PLLA, which activates the skin's ability to build its own natural collagen.
Practical information
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that activates the skin's ability to build collagen over time and is considered an excellent choice for restoring lost volume and improving the overall structure of the skin. It is injected deep into the skin and contains PLLA (Poly-L-lactic acid), a biocompatible substance that is gradually broken down by the body. This provides long-lasting, natural, and gradual results.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that activates the skin's ability to stimulate collagen. The active ingredient PLLA, or poly-L-lactic acid, is a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and stimulates the body's own production of collagen. As we age, collagen production in the skin decreases, causing it to become slack and develop lines and wrinkles.
Sculptra will restore lost volume to areas of the face that need it. The skin will also be tightened where it has become slack, wrinkles and scars will be reduced, and skin folds will be corrected. The skin will feel firmer, more vital, and you will look younger. The body absorbs and excretes this type of lactic acid completely naturally. A course of Sculptra will usually require 3-4 treatments.
How often do you need to take Sculptra and how long does the effect last?
Everyone has different starting points, so the number of injections needed varies greatly from person to person. As a rule of thumb, for optimal results, we recommend three treatments at six-week intervals. The effects of the treatment last for approximately two years, depending on the area, skin type, and technique used. Sculptra will always produce individual results.
How quickly does Sculptra work?
Sculptra provides natural results over time. Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production, which means that it can take six to nine months before visible results are seen. The results will last for up to two years. This is maintained by repeating the treatment once a year after the first two years.
Do I need to come in for a consultation before I can have Sculptra treatment?
Yes, you must. A certified practitioner will assess whether Sculptra is the right treatment for you. This is determined based on your skin type, needs, and desired effect. The amount and number of injection points will also be determined during this consultation. During the consultation, you will be able to ask any questions you may have. The consultation is free of charge, as is the follow-up check-up.
It will be possible to carry out the Sculptra treatment after consultation, provided that there is time set aside for it and the practitioner believes that the treatment will be beneficial.
The substance is injected into marked points in the subcutaneous fat and finally the skin is massaged thoroughly. Anesthetic cream can also be applied before treatment if desired. One treatment takes approx. 45 minutes. Everyone must have a consultation prior to treatment.
