Fat transfer – natural shape and volume with your own fat

Fat transfer involves moving fat from one area of the body to another. The method provides natural and lasting results, and is well suited for those who want more volume without the use of implants.

What is fat grafting?

Fat transfer involves moving fat tissue from one place to another. This is for people who have unwanted fat in certain areas of their body and want to moderately enlarge other areas. The most common procedure is to transfer fat to the breasts to increase their volume, or to the buttocks.

Some people choose fat grafting to the face in small amounts to correct lost volume, as with filler treatments.

The method provides permanent results, as long as you maintain roughly the same weight.

Liposuction one area

If you have a different distribution of fatty tissue than what is either normal or desirable, you can liposuction an area and transplant this fat to another place to increase volume and/or change shape.

Using liposuction cannulas and a gentle technique, the fat is moved from one place to another on the body.

Who is this method suitable for?

The method is well suited for those who want a natural result.

This method is ideal for those who want to increase their cup size by 1-2 sizes or transplant fat instead of using implants.

It can often be a good combination with liposuction of 1-2 areas that you want to have liposuction on.

Magne chooses the procedure for cosmetic reasons (to enlarge her breasts due to lack of volume and shape, and to correct asymmetry).

There may also be women who have small and empty breasts after undergoing pregnancy and breastfeeding, or women who have underdeveloped breasts.

Time

With conventional liposuction, there is no need to take into account the fat that is sucked out, which is why this method is time-consuming. Here, special cannulas are used to harvest the smallest components and the smaller fat cells.

Fat grafting is widely used in breast cancer reconstructions (especially over prostheses) because there is little tissue over the prosthesis after the breast has been removed.

Breast augmentation with your own fat

Many people do not want to insert foreign objects such as silicone implants, but want something that feels natural.

Fat grafting is well suited for those who already have implants but want more fullness in their breasts without having to switch to larger implants. Women with little fat under the skin may develop small folds in the implants that can be seen and felt (called rippling).

Hybrid breast augmentation

A hybrid breast augmentation is a breast augmentation that combines implants and fat.

The breast

The breasts consist of 15 to 20 groups of milk-producing glands, lobules, surrounded by fatty tissue. From each group, a milk duct leads to the nipple. Around the nipple is a darker area, the areola, which contains small sebaceous glands that lubricate the nipple and keep it soft.

A hybrid breast augmentation where the implant builds a certain volume (e.g., ⅔ or ¾) and where the fat lies over the implant and makes it soft (and hides the edges of the implant, for example) is a very good solution if you have little glandular volume but still have some fat on your body otherwise.
